About

Hello! My name is Kaitlyn S. and I am a twenty-something-year-old young lady who has been redeemed and saved from my sin only by the grace of God. Welcome to my small corner of the internet, and plan to stay and chat for a while!

I am a freelance writer and editor by day and a baker by night. Or vice versa, depending on the given day and the circumstances . . .

I have always loved words, and enjoy using unique ones that aren’t commonly in use. I only discovered a love of writing after I graduated from high school, a love I attribute to my teacher, who also happens to be my Momma. I hated writing in school, and it was my Mom who continually encouraged me to use more words. And I needed a lot of encouraging, believe me!

As I write, I strive to put my jumbled, chaotic thoughts down onto paper — reducing them into black and white rows, letters, sentences. Into some semblance of sanity. And I share them here with all of you, with a desire to spiritually challenge you, that you may grow in the grace of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. The goal of this website is to encourage others to follow the Lord’s leading in their lives, and to search out the Scriptures, that they may know the will of God for them. I want to embrace this life the Lord has given me, and encourage everyone else to join me in looking for the beauty in the middle of the mess. Look for the ideal in the not-so-ideal moments, and find joy in the midst of chaos.

As I write and share with all of y’all, I want to chronicle not only the beautiful, ideal, blog-worthy moments of this life of mine but also the struggles and trials that we all face in this journey called life. This is not for the faint of heart, my friends. In Aunt Wealthy Stanhope’s words: Life is not a tea party my dear. It is an adventure, full of excitement. That it is, Aunt Wealthy, that it is.

I pray that you will realize that I strive to identify myself solely in Jesus Christ, the author and finisher of my salvation. I don’t want to be defined by what I wear, how many siblings I have, where I live, who my friends are, whether I am single or married, or anything else. But as you follow along on this beautiful journey called life, you will quickly realize several things:
— I love my family, wholeheartedly and devotedly. We are close, my family and I.
— I have lots of siblings. 10, to be exact. 5 sisters and 5 brothers — and I am the oldest of the tribe :D
— I much prefer country to city. The clean air, the warm sun, the peaceful, unhurried days . . . my family and I live in the country and we have a small “farmstead” complete with a garden, chickens, way too many cats, dogs, ducks . . .
— I am an avid reader — and it’s not too often that friends come over and leave without a handful of books from my shelves. I own about 500 books, and my family owns even more, and we will share them with you . . . as long as you promise to return them =P
— I am a southern girl, through and through. And I walk barefoot in the summertime. And I firmly believe the best drink on a hot summer’s day is peach tea. In a mason jar.

In the time I am not writing, I am filling my time with studying the Word of my Saviour, learning the amazing natural ways the Lord has provided for us to use to heal our bodies — homeopathy and herbology — studying the in’s and out’s of being a doula and natural childbirth, washing and folding laundry, holding children, changing diapers, helping teach the little ones, cooking meals for my family, out in the garden, cleaning, ironing, washing dishes, keeping the little ones busy….

In my spare time I am writing letters, playing the violin, learning the piano, crocheting, sewing, knitting, or curled up with a book — or two or three or four — and a nice cup of hot coffee =) I enjoy singing — and the more people who join in the better! And it is pure bliss if I can convince people that it is fun to gather with instruments and play them together, for the glory of our Creator.

I am so glad to have you stop by and pray that this website is an encouragement to you!
